Overflowing?
We live in an extremely self absorbed, self centered, me-istic culture don't we? Our generation is no different than past generations, self centeredness is a disease that goes back to the very beginning. Most are convinced that life is really, "ALL ABOUT ME". This is one thing that is supposed to separate those who follow Christ from those who do not know Him yet. Living a selfless life is one thing that should characterize the follower of Christ. I know this is not easy, and life as a way to always go back to fending for one self, oftentimes and the expense of neglecting other people and there needs. Yet, shouldn't giving, serving, loving, blessing be much more widely characterizing of the followers of Jesus. Shouldn't we be known for these things. Although unselfishness according to scripture is what defines us as disciples, the world around us unfortunately thinks of other words like; judge-mental, arrogant, hypocritical, condescending, self absorbed, etc. Now I'm not saying everyone should like us for following Christ, but I think His character should be much more evident than it is.
Too many believers are more preoccupied with being blessed than being a blessing. We have bought into a greedy, indulgent message thinly veiled behind prosperity. Where preachers are known for being slick salesmen and not the servants of all. Jesus came to give us life that overflows with so much love, joy, and hope that it spills on everyone we know and come into contact with. I challenged our church with this concept yesterday, and they left with a simple challenge to notice the people around them and to do something that demonstrates God's love in a no strings attached, practical way. On my way home from church I had already gotten two different emails from people who were engaging in this, and have sense received many more. I would love to hear what you are doing!
WHat a great way to start the week. I plan on doing something every day for a stranger in the name of God's love. I will post all week the stories that I have and we will see God do increible things...

That blog is so true and it has and should encourage us all to boost up our performance in helping one another to be a blessing. Amen Keep on focusing on God's words. I'll be praying for you daily and will enjoy the days that I pray with you in person. Blessings & peace, Sean B
